Hot Pink Life. From the plaintive cries of love requited to the frenzied shrieks of a love that cannot be: The booger loves the chewing gum, but sadly, he is inanimate. As would-be suitors, the fly and the spider have the physical advantage. This song was spawned in a feverish daydream at the DMV on the occasion of having to re-take the written driving test. As I filled out the multiple-choice squares, I absent-mindedly put my hand under the desk where I felt stickiness and at that moment there emerged an abnormally oppertunist fly whose unshakable mission seemed to be to take up residence in my right ear. A note for math-nerds and prog-heads: I conceived the vamp section as 7 beats = (1-2) - (1-2-3) - (1-2). Matt-tat-tat considered the first 2 beats as a pick up and proceeded counting the 7 beats as he preferred = (1-2-3-4) - (1-2-3) and. I guess it works either way. Recorded “live in the studio”
